While the festival is free and open to all, it does have a cost. We make it a point to pay the artists what they are worth, and of course to pay their travel and accommodation expenses. More than 80% of the budget is allocated to artistic expenses. The rest is spent on logistics, administration and publicity.

ALL THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE ORGANISATION OF THE FESTIVAL ARE VOLUNTEERS AND THEREFORE UNPAID.

Before his death in 2018, founder Robert Turnbull organised the creation of a foundation, one of whose missions is to ensure sustainable financial support for the festival. The Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation has thus become the main donor to En Blanc Et Noir. It also funds the work of the artistic director.

We also benefit from institutional support such as the Mairie de Lagrasse, the Communauté de Communes Lézignan-Corbières, the Département de l’Aude and the Région Occitanie. The shopkeepers of Lagrasse and the surrounding area help us with their advertising in our brochure.
During the festival, the sale of drinks, snacks and programmes, as well as the participation in the “hat”, ensures us important, though often unpredictable, income.

Finally, and this is our strength, we can count on the faithful support of patrons, donors and members without whom we would not be able to balance the festival budget.
We warmly thank all the people and institutions that allow En Blanc Et Noir to exist.
